Actress is the moniker of British musician and producer Darren J. Cunningham. His shadowy, unpredictable music draws loosely on 2-step garage, sub-bass, and London’s rave heritage. It has been released by a number of different labels, including Honest Jon’s Records, Nonplus Records, and Werkdiscs, a label he co-founded in 2004. In the last 5 years of running the Werkdiscs label set himself apart as one of the hottest A&R scouts within his field, having discovered and released some of the most widely talked about artists of the emerging bass generation, namely Disrupt, Zomby, Lukid and Starkey. As Actress he produced the exceptional Hazyville LP drawing cries for a Mercury Award Nomination.
François Boulanger from Liège operates under the exotic name ssaliva. Later this month he will release his second album We never happened on Belgian quality label Ekster.
