Lecture performance
In his lecture performance, Tobias Revell will address contemporary and historical relationships between magic and technology. With the proliferation of smart, seemingly intelligent and autonomous devices, we are introduced to new types of relationships and mediations that are often shrouded in technical and political mystery. Tobias’ work looks at unpacking and examining these relationships and the way they utilise myth, magic and the monstrous to help us culturally assimilate complex and wicked concepts.
In Artefact: The Act of Magic, Tobias Revell presents The Finite State Fantasia, an immersive installation visualizing the space mapping behaviour of an intelligent, but invisible, machine. The Finite State Fantasia is this year’s STUK - KU Leuven co-production, with the support of STRP.
