De Optische Kamer en Jij (workshop)

Ortographe (IT)

What is an image and how does it originate? What happens when we take a picture or when we record a film? What is the difference between a smart phone and an old photo camera? How do you ‘capture’ an image? Can you ‘release’ images after having captured them in a photo? You can find the answers to these and other weird questions by participating in this workshop about the working of the camera.

During this workshop you will be inside a human-size ‘optical chamber’ (comparable to the inside of a photo camera) and experience how images originate from reality and how they can be altered. You participate in the creation of a perfor- mance that will take place by the end of the day. The basis is the fairy tale The Golden Key by the Brothers Grimm. The audience looks at the moving images which you create and influence. The ultimate story will be determined by you, as you engage in the workshop. After participating in the workshop, you will have a better grasp of how images and photos are being made, altered and presented.

Workshop in English, with Dutch translation, for children between 6 en 12.
Participants have to bring their own lunch.
