Musician, composer, poet and teacher William Hooker has played with a long list of contributors, including David Murray, David S. Ware, William Parker, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Elliot Sharpe, Zeena Parkins and DJ Olive. Hooker, a phenomenal drummer, has played at STUK before. Two years ago, he created a live drum soundtrack for The Symbol of the Unconquered, a silent movie from 1920 by Afro-American director Oscar Micheaux. During that same edition of Artefact, Hooker played an unforgettable jam session with an array of Belgium’s finest musicians. Artefact now invites him again for an impro concert in the Jazz On Sunday programme, for which he brings his New York free jazz colleague Dave Ross.They will be joined by Nicolas Thys.
